How are we moving into fall season already? I must sound like a broken record then number of times I’ve said I can’t believe how time just flew. But it really has! How can it simultaneously feel like the fastest and longest years of our lives? WFH and quarantining have really messed with my head and I don’t know if I’m ready to jump into another season already. As we transition into fall so does the change in our wardrobe but it can be a bit tricky too. It’s a little early for the usual heavier fall go-to items but we can finally start swapping out few key items as the weather cools in your city.

Personally, I love any excuse to get my boots out but if you’re not ready to put away your warmer summer staples from don’t worry, no need to pack up your muscle tee or biker shorts just yet. It’s all about creating a good balance of items for the in-between weather and we’ve got just the outfit inspo you need to get you slowly excited for the cooler days ahead.

Keep scrolling to see some easy outfits from these fashionistas to help you transition into the fall season:

1. Denim on Denim

The great bit about denim is that its so versatile and denim jackets can be paired with almost anything. It instantly creates a laidback feel to your outfit. Pair your denim jacket with a similar denim bottom like Riya Jain has here with solid black top. Having both denim pieces in a similar wash makes for a chic look. BTW if you don’t have a denim jacket in your closet, now is a good time to invest in one. It’s the best outerwear piece you can own that works all year round no matter the season.

2. Leather Shorts

When trying to master the pre-fall weather a good pair of leather or pleather shorts can be your transitional wardrobe MVP. While leather pieces slowly start to come out of the closet this season it’s still not time to fully embrace all-over leather. In this case, leather shorts are the perfect go-between that is wearable on warm and cool days alike. Keep it chic and fashionable like Nina Sandbech‘s ensemble. She’s opted for black Bermuda style shorts with a white muscle tee and chain-link belt. A classic colour combo with simple trendy pieces. This look keeps you cool enough and if you get a bit chilly you can easily add on a light jacket or blazer on top.

3. Denim Mini Skirt

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t wear sheer or short items. Don’t be afraid to show some skin. Emily looks very cool in this mostly black ensemble. She’s paired her denim mini skirt with a sheer lace top and matching bralette. We love the addition of a lightweight long cardigan in case she gets chilly, paired with some tough combat boots to ground the otherwise very girly look. You can even add some tights to this look when the weather calls for it.

4. Maxi Dress

Honestly, the fall season is all about layering and you can’t go wrong with a maxi dress and blazer to match.  Sakshi Sindwani nails this look by sticking to a classic colour palette of black and navy blue. The maxi dress thigh-slit shows off just the right amount of skin and the white sneakers add some freshness to the solid look. Don’t be afraid to use your floral maxis this season either just opt for deeper shades or tones rather than pastels and neons.

5. Biker Shorts

Don’t pack away those biker shorts just yet. It’s the perfect piece to quickly put on and style for simpler days. I love how Alexandra Pereria styles hers with a longline cream blazer and white knotted tee. It screams laid-back chic complete with the trendy yet minimal accessories like the chain link necklace and cute black strappy sandals. While colourful looks are always welcome, neutrals are still trendy and an easy way to look put-together and sophisticated.

6. Cropped Jumper

Remember early spring and summer when the cropped cardigan trend was everywhere? While it’s time to bring them back into rotation. Pair a cropped jumper or your cropped cardigan from spring with a slip skirt of your choice. It’s a quick, simple yet instantly stylish look that takes minimum effort. Lauren Caruso went for an all-black look with high heeled boots that scream chic elegance. An all-black look is the ultimate fool-proof fashion formula if colourful looks aren’t your forte.
