Recently, Paris Hilton released a YouTube documentary based on her life called This Is Paris. The documentary is meant to break the common misconceptions that people have about the model-actress-socialite and give viewers a more personal insight into her life. During the course of the film, Paris opens up about being abused as a child. She talks about attending several behavioral boarding schools as a teenager where she alleged that she faced physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. Paris also named the school she had the worst experience at, Provo Canyon School in Utah.

She revealed that she was taken from her parent’s home in the middle of the night and she still has nightmares about being kidnapped because of that. She said that there was no getting out of there and that there were times when you’re sitting in a chair staring at a wall all day being yelled at or getting hit. The socialite also spoke about how she felt a lot of people in the school got off by torturing children and seeing them naked. She revealed that all the children used to be given pills to keep them drugged and she was put in solitary confinement when they found out she had stopped taking them.

Recently, on The Drew Barrymore’s Show, she and Drew Barrymore shared their stories of being in confinement while they were children. Paris also revealed why she chose to speak about it now. She said that she was ashamed of what had happened and initially she didn’t want her documentary to be about that at all and just wanted to show the businesswoman that she is. But it was during shooting that Paris grew closer to her director when she felt she could open up about anything. And it was her director who told her it is very important to tell the story as it would help other people who are going through a similar situation and want to speak out about it.

She concluded by saying that she’s not ashamed anymore and that the people who work at such places abusing children are the ones who should be ashamed.
