The pandemic has not been easy on any of us. However, many of us are lucky to have a roof on our heads and a steady source of income. In uncertain times like these, local vendors, food stalls and small business owners have suffered major losses. One such example is of a small food stall called ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, where an 80-year-old couple cooked delicious food and sold it to people for a minimal price. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit them hard and until yesterday they were barely able to earn a living. However, content creator, Gaurav Wasan spotted their stall out and amplified their condition on social media. Here’s everything that happened!

Gaurav Wasan a.k.a @youtubeswadofficial posted an IGTV video

It all started when Gaurav posted a video of the old couple crying on his Instagram page. The video showed how the couple was barely able to earn a living and that their small business was on the verge of falling apart. This video took social media by storm and multiple influencers, as well as people, started sharing it among their peers. That one post helped spread so much awareness about the old couple and their food stall.

How influencers used their platforms…

How heart-warming is this picture? Influencers such as Harsh Beniwal, Ashish Chanchlani, Sarah Hussain and many more posted about the couple along with the stall address to spread more awareness. The idea was to encourage more people to help the food stall out.

How social media transformed their situation in one day…

Here’s the latest update that came in this morning, ‘Baba Ka Dhaba‘ is completely sold out! Multiple YouTubers, content creators, celebrities and even the area MLA visited the food stall. We are so happy to know that their story got amplified and the old couple received a lot of help from people. It is incidents like these that restore our faith in humanity and show us how powerful social media can be if you use to for a good purpose!

Everyone reading this, if you are based out of Delhi, go check this Dhaba out and try your best to support local stalls and vendors. This isn’t an easy time for any of us but if we are privileged in some way, let’s help others in need! Kudos to Gaurav Wasan and everyone else who took the effort of making a change.
