It was recently reported that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer, Sooryavanshi will not hit the screens this Diwali despite the Centre having greenlit the reopening of theatres from October 15. Now according to a report by MidDay, it is learnt that helmer Rohit Shetty along with production house Reliance Entertainment is thinking of releasing the film over the Republic Day weekend.
The publication quoted a source as saying—
The makers feel it will be an ideal time to release the film, given its theme of patriotism and anti-terrorism. While the current crisis will hopefully be under control by then, the Katrina Kaif-starrer will additionally enjoy the benefit of being the first big release of 2021. The team is currently working out the logistics.Reliance Entertainment’s other big films like Ranveer Singh‘s 83 will release this Christmas as per the plan. For the unversed, Sooryavanshi and 83 were to be released on March 24 and April 10 respectively but due to the pandemic, the dates were postponed.While many movies opted for a digital premiere during the coronavirus led pandemic. The studio announced that they will wait for the theatres to open to enjoy a big-screen premiere of both the films, with the audience.
