Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, famously and lovingly called DDLJ, is a film that defined romance in India and became a cult classic. Penned and helmed by debutant Aditya Chopra, the film featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, broke all box office records and is one of the greatest all-time blockbusters in the history of Hindi cinema. DDLJ also went on to become the longest-running Hindi film of all time! And now on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the film is now being re-released across the world.

Confirming the news, Mr Nelson D’Souza (Associate Vice President – International Distribution) says—

DDLJ is a film that made people fall in love and has constantly won hearts whenever it has been screened across the world. On its special 25th anniversary, we are very happy to announce that we are re-releasing DDLJ so that audiences can celebrate this cult classic. Audiences all over the world will get a chance to watch the film once again on the big screen as we are planning the re-release in several key diasporas and non-diaspora global markets.

The film will be screening across Germany, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, USA, UK, Canada, Mauritius, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia and Finland among others.

The Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer, which was constructed at a budget of 4 crores, emerged as a blockbuster in the year 1995 as it made a collection of over 89 crores in India and 13.50 crore in the overseas markets. Thus, total collections summed up at 102.50 crores worldwide in the year of its release. In today’s inflation-adjusted value, DDLJ’s collection stands at a whopping 455 crores in India and 69 crores in overseas territories, taking the total worldwide collections to a phenomenal 524 crore.
