Remember Anshuman from Jab We Met? Actor Tarun Arora who played the character is all set to come back to Bollywood after 13 long years with Akshay Kumar‘s, Laxmmi, where he will be seen playing the main antagonist. I got an opportunity to have a lovely tête-à-tête session with Tarun who recalled how his life changed after Jab We Met. The model-turned-actor also spoke about why he had to leave Mumbai and much more.

Here are a few excerpts from the conversation:

How does it feel to make a comeback to Bollywood after 13 long years?

Last thirteen years have been really interesting for me, I have been thrown into a lot of challenges,  I’ve learnt to be patient. I’ve worked in a lot of different languages and I’ve learnt a lot of things like horse riding, fighting. Yeah, it’s been very exciting, lots to learn and it’s quite a memorable journey and I feel lucky.

How did this film happen to you?

I had worked with (Raghava) Lawrence sir on a Tamil film which was called Kanchana 4. He thought I suited the character for Laxmii since he was directing it. I guess he was comfortable and confident about me and that’s how this film came.

What was it like working with Akshay Kumar?

Akshay Kumar is a cool guy. He’s a great actor, he’s very professional, he’s quite friendly and very helpful on the sets. I really enjoyed working with him.

We will see you playing the main antagonist in Laxmmi. How was your prep like?

Laxmmi a remake of a Tamil film so there wasn’t much scope other than watching the film, trying to better yourself from what you have seen, putting your own personality into it and bringing in more energy. That’s what the scope was and I tried to do my best on that.

What was the reason behind the 13-year hiatus from Bollywood?

First of all, I was getting characters similar to Anushman with lesser screen space which was not exciting me. I also wanted to have a backup. I wanted to polish my craft and join theatre, that’s what took me back to Bangalore. I started my hospitality and then I started doing south films which kept me busy.

How would you describe your journey from Jab We Met to now?

Frankly speaking, I’m feeling extremely blessed to get this opportunity again. I’m really excited, I’m more prepared and confident than earlier.

I sure am super excited to see Tarun back on screen with Laxmmi and cannot wait to see all that he has in store for us in the coming times!
