Blogger Pro Tips: 6 Ways To Style Your Mini-Skirt For The Winter

Rishika Devnani

We all can agree that living in India has its fair share of advantages and disadvantages compared to other parts of the world. While our four seasons may not be as intense as others, we get to enjoy winter without freezing into a popsicle. This allows us to plan our wardrobe for the season strategically, keeping dresses and skirts as an integral part of it. Sure, we bring out the scarves, sweaters and jackets but it doesn’t have to be all chunky. Our favourite hemline can still be an intact part of our fashion game for the colder months.

Much to your surprise, mini-skirts are a seasonless staple when paired with the right top. With the assistance of classic coats, comfy sweaters and cool footwear, you can style a mini-skirt without getting the chills. It is the much-needed dose of Vitamin C your attire needs in the cold-induced days. Moreover, to make this process easier, fashion houses release several stylish and winter-appropriate skirts such as plaid, tweed, leather along with other thicker materials that are meant to keep us warm.

Once you get started, there are ample ways to style these mini wonders and live comfortably in through the season! We turned to some of our favourite fashion influencers to see how they have nailed the look for the upcoming season.

Strut those legs this winter with 6 inspirational looks from the street-style stars:

1) Minimal Look

We instantly fell in love with Andy Csinger‘s minimal look with an equally subtle colour palette that makes us feel at ease. Maintaining a soft tone, she goes for the classic light wash, frayed denim mini-skirt and tucks in a simple white sweater into it. These two extremely basic pieces are instantly elevated with the layer of a camel coat that sits delicately on her shoulder. The sandy hue brought in via the coat and bag add warmth to the outfit, physically and figuratively. Moreover, don’t miss out on the stylish cream, heeled boots that keep the outfit intact and chic!

2) Edgy Vibe

Faux leather is the just the fabric for this season. Your winter wardrobe will not be complete without a few faux leather pieces that are fashion game-changers. Erica Hoida, queen of street-style, styles her mini-skirt in an edgy yet casual manner. To enhance an otherwise basic look, her skirt has a flap-over which makes it stand out. Keeping the hue monochromatic, a loose-fitted, dark grey sweater with cut-out sleeves is the perfect companion for this edgy vibe. Along with knee-high boots that keep her warm and elongate her toned legs. Additionally, the silver hardware from Erica’s accessories makes a difference and contribute to her effortlessly cool-girl look!

3) Sophisticated Style

Pretty, petite and polished are the 3 P’s that come to mind when we see Sophie Knight‘s style. If you are looking for an elegant way to wear your mini-skirt this season, Sophie shows us how. Winter does not necessarily require us to divulge in dark colours. Mixing and matching the season’s Pantones can result in a beautiful combination such as the burgundy and white we see in Sophie’s outfit. She matches a plain burgundy, pleated skirt with a well-fitted white sweater that complements each other beautifully. Furthermore, she adds some texture to her look with killer knee-high boots with a crocodile texture and a plush Bottega Veneta sling in a burgundy hue, as well.

4) Sexy Vibe

The temperature out there has not stopped Anna Vasony from sizzling in her sexy attire! The silvery-white palette of her look is appropriate to the season, giving us festive vibes. It makes for a fitting outfit choice for the upcoming Christmas or New Years Eve celebrations. Anna’s skirt has a ’90s vibe to it with its fitted style, side slit and a metallic sheen. Keeping up with the sexy vibe, she opts for a crop, tube-top in a neutral colour to go along with it. On its own, this outfit would have had an entirely different appeal. However, the added layer of a cream Teddy jacket does the job of both, warmth and adding a chic flair to the look.

5) One Colour

The “I just woke up like this” look is one we always envy. However, Melissa A. R. shows us how to achieve this without looking like a hot mess. Mixing textures is an entirely different ball game when it comes to fashion, but sticking to the same hue makes this task doable. Melissa’s all-green, mini-skirt attire is effortless and looks smart enough to sport around. Moreover, it is perfect for the pre-winter days when layering is not yet required. The oversized, washed-out green denim shirt pairs perfectly with her leather mini-skirt in a similar shade. To make this ensemble more fashion-forward, she half-tucks the shirt and puts on some knee-high rubber boots in darker green. The head-to-toe green gradient works with this look, along with the juxtaposition of a loose top and fitted lower half.

6) Comfortable and Chic

Negin Mirsalehi is a sight in anything she wears. Thus, making her the ideal inspiration for any fashion trend. Our current favourite being the way she styles her plaid skirt with an oversized cardigan. The checkered print is a must for autumn-winter, and what better way to sport it than with a mini-skirt. Moreover, the pairing of a white shirt and grey cardigan makes us nostalgic about the good old school days. Except now we can flaunt our legs and be on-trend without any penalty! Negin’s pulled-up tube socks and sneakers sync visually and aesthetically with her school-girl vibe. Overall, you have yourself a comfortable, casual and chic mini-skirt outfit to keep you going all day.
