Kajal Aggarwal’s Wedding Was A Romantic Sartorial Fairytale

Sakshi Kore

This year has been unquestionably absurd and nothing like the kind we imagined at the start of the decade. But the one good thing that came out of the abnormalities of 2020 was the evident strengthening of human bonds. Speaking with regards to weddings, small-scale and intimate affairs became the memo but the celebration became that much more special. The same can be said about the newly weds Kajal Aggarwal and Gautam Kitchlu who recently tied the knot in an initimate ceremony at the Taj Mahal Hotel in the south of Mumbai.

The wedding celebrations followed the toned-down approach of the year but the celebratory spirits were at an inevitable high! Speaking of Kajal’s bridal outfits that were put together by Ami Patel, the actor’s sartorial journey drew its inspiration from the “more is more” philosophy. Which brings me to say, it’s true what they say about the traditional affairs of India, there’s nothing in the world that can rain on our festive parade. And on our sartorial celebration that follows suit!

In Manish Malhotra

For her engagement ceremony back in June, the actor opted for a Manish Malhotra, tuscan yellow saree. Made from organza, the sheer, six-yard number featured delicate tonal threadwork in floral motifs mixed with minimal sequin work. The square-neck blouse of the saree that was adorned with 3D floral embroidery and a sequined border came with a surprise. The back of the blouse featured a sensuos play of tasseled beads, which became the show-stealing element of her outfit. Kajal tied her look together with a pair of shoulder-grazing diamond earrings and bangles.

In Varun Bahl

For the Satsang ceremony, Kajal opted for a Varun Bahl creation. A statement-making, tulle kurta set with a white canvas, which served as the perfect backdrop for the extravagant decoration in red. The bust of the kurta was covered in scarlet floral embroidery with a mix of bead work in the same hue. Kajal teamed her kurta with a pair of white leggings and completed her look with a sheer white dupatta with an embroidered border. The actor accessorised her outfit with a matching jewellery set from Jadau Jewellery By Falguni Mehta. The set comprised a jadau choker, chunky jadau bracelets and earrings.

In Anita Dongre

For the actor’s Gaur Pooja, Kajal found herself decked up in a lime green Anita Dongre lehenga choli. The custom lehenga set drew its inspiration from the couple’s go-to holiday destination, Villa D’este in Rome. The silhouette was elevated using intricate floral embroidery and embellishments in white, powder pink and powder blue. The floor-kissing number came with a sheer pink dupatta with an embellished border. The actor added the perfect finishing touch to her look with a matching sling bag. Accessory wise, Kajal opted for a diamond-encrusted choker, jhumkis and kadas all from Anita Dongre Pink City.

In Anita Dongre

For their Mehendi ceremony, Kajal opted for yet another Anita Dongre number—a mint green kurta set. The breezy set came with a flouncy skirt and a sleeveless kurta with block-printed blooms in red and subtle chevron patterns in shades of green. The actor was apt in picking this outfit for the festivities given the playful nature of the ceremony. A pair of statement chaandbalis injected just the right amount of oomph to her look.

In Anamika Khanna

For the D-day, Kajal looked to the genius of Anamika Khanna who brought to life a bridal number that boasted of the brand’s impeccable craftsmanship. The floor-sweeping lehenga set was made using a deep red fabric that featured intricate zardozi and resham work in floral patterns. A blush pink dupatta with heavy embroidery and a scalloped hemline tied her look together. Which makes it safe to say, Kajal looked like a vision in her Anamika Khanna creation on the day of the wedding. For accessories, Kajal turned to Sunita Shekhawat and for kalires, it was Mrinalini Chandra.
