Actor Asif Basra breathed his last on Thursday in McLodganj in Dharamshala. He was 53. According to reports, the actor was found hanging at a rented property in Himachal Pradesh. While the cause of death is not known yet, it is reckoned to be a case of death by suicide. It is being reported that Asif had a property on rent for the past five-six years and used to visit it on a regular basis.

ANI quoted SSP Kangra Vimukt Ranjan as saying—”Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala. A forensic team is at the spot and police is investigating the matter”

Asif Basra has played the role of Qureshi in Anurag Kashyap’s  Black Friday. He was critically lauded for his performance in Rahul Dholakia’s Parzania. However, that one role which made him famous among the Indian audiences was when he played Emraan Hashmi’s cop father in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai which released in 2010. He also featured in Kai Po Che and Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer Jab We Met.
