The Weeknd slammed the Grammy Awards and called them corrupt after he walked away with zero nominations despite giving multiple hits this year.

The three-time Grammy winner called out the Recording Academy on Tuesday after he was ignored despite the giving the year one of it’s biggest albums like ‘After Hours’. The popstar also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘Heartless’.

To express his disappointment, The Weeknd took to his Twitter and wrote— “The Grammys remain corrupt,” the Weeknd wrote. “You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”.

According to a report by EW, Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement—”We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated. I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration.

Meanwhile, Beyonce is leading the Grammy nominations this year with 9 which includes song and record of the year. She has become the second most nominated artist in the history of the award shows with over 79 nominations in total.
