In some unfortunate news today, it was learnt that actress Arya Banerjee, who featured in Bollywood films like Vidya Balan‘s ‘The Dirty Picture’ was found dead in her apartment in Kolkata on Friday.
The 33-year-old actress was found by the cops in her bedroom after they broke open the door of her third floor apartment. Her house maid is said to have gotten suspicious after Arya did not open the door or pick her several calls. She then called the police who reached the apartment.
According to a PTI report, the police stated that her body has been sent for a forensic examination and that a forensic team took a few samples from her bedroom for investigations. The report also quotes the housemaid as saying that Arya lived alone in the apartment and often kept to herself.
The actress was the daughter of late sitarist, Nikhil Banerjee. She essayed the role of Shakeela in The Dirty Picture and also starred in LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka which came out in 2010. In a post mourning her loss, Bengali actress Bidita Bag reminisced about her modelling days where Arya was her senior and a very established model. She also shares that Arya used to sing and dance like a rockstar.
