In June 1998, HBO premiered the first-ever episode of the legendary show, Sex and the City. Running for six successful seasons and winning several awards, the show was synonymous with fashion during its time. The episodes revolve around the life of Carrie Bradshaw and her three best friends—Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York and Samantha Jones. The series followed by a movie and a sequel is based on the book, Sex and the City, written by Candace Bushnell. The hit show by Michael Patrick King is the definition of glamour and fashion and also talks openly about sex. It was way ahead of its time, which is a contributing factor to its popularity. The lead actor, Sarah Jessica Parker became a sensation overnight along with her iconic style, leaving a lasting impact on women ’round the globe.

So when news about the revival of Sex and the City hit the web, we were ecstatic! The excitement to see these gorgeous women take over the screen again is one hundred percent real. The reboot is set to be 10-episodes long and will go by the name And Just Like That. However, Kim Cattrall who plays Samantha will not be joining the group for the second part. While we will miss her sassy character, we are eagerly awaiting stills from the set to release. With the new storyline based on their life and friendship in the ’50s, we expect no less drama and intense fashion moments.

Raise your hand if you are as excited as us to see costume designer, Patricia Field recreate her magic on-screen. From endless designer shoes to expensive tulle skirts, who is to say the revival will be any less?

We browsed through the show’s style files to commemorate the reboot and we’ve listed 9 of the most memorable looks from the show! Keep scrolling:

1) Carrie‘s Tutu Skirt

In the very first episode of Sex and the City, we see Carrie sport a white ballerina tulle skirt and a pale pink top. This look became synonymous with the show as it somewhat symbolised her character—cheery and playful. The creators treated us with Carrie in this look yet again in the finale, marking the significance of the ensemble.

2) The Carrie Necklace

Accessories worn on the show became iconic as well. And were of course, replicated by many fans. However, not to be mistaken, the trend did not start or end with the show. Sarah Jessica Parker wore this delicate namesake necklace throughout most of the show. Until the very heartbreaking moment when she misplaces it. But, the neckpiece became an integral part of most of her looks.

3) Charlotte‘s Pink Blouse

Charlotte‘s fashion sense was a reflection of her character—delicate and pretty. The role played by Kristin Davis was of a prim and proper woman, which could be seen in her choice of attire full of florals, feminine dresses and blazers. The colour pink also made a recurring cameo in most of her outfits. The most memorable one was a pink front-knot blouse with a glimmering corset, paired with a skirt, which was a rather unusual choice unlike most of her buttoned-up looks.

4) Carrie‘s Dior Newspaper Dress

Carrie truly became an on-screen fashion icon when she wore the controversial Christian Dior newspaper dress in the third season. Inspired by the homeless of Paris, the dress by John Galliano is iconic for many reasons. It became an inspiration point for the many newspaper-print outfits that came about soon. We also saw this beauty make a comeback in the second film and hope to see it in the revival as well!

5) Carrie‘s Manolo Blahnik Shoes

The list of SATC looks would be incomplete without Carrie’s first love—shoes. Her massive shoe collection of Christian Louboutins, Jimmy Choo‘s and Manolo Blahnik‘s was as envy-inducing as it can get. However, Manolo‘s always held a special place in her heart. The show is largely responsible for the brand’s popularity, and there would be no reboot without Carrie wearing his magical creations. Captured from the series finale, we see her slaying in the infamous full-length fur coat, pleated tutu-silk skirt, blue wrap blouse, a bright-pink scarf, finished off with flaming red Manolo Blahnik heels.

6) Samantha‘s Red Dress

Samantha’s vivaciousness and sarcasm are qualities that make her character much-loved. This was often exhibited in her style which was sexy and daring. Our favourite femme fatale looks smokin’ hot in the season 2 finale where she dons a figure-hugging low-neck mini red dress paired with a zebra-pattern bag.

7) Miranda‘s Power Suit

Busy being a powerful lawyer, Miranda‘s fashion was modest and quite formal. Even though extremely simple, she knew how to make an impact in her power suits. We saw her model a no-nonsense style of skirt suits and pantsuits throughout the series. While she had some jaw-dropping moments in fitted dresses, we think Miranda modelled her signature power suits to perfection.

8) Carrie‘s Flower Brooch

Sarah Jessica Parker could pull off anything and make it look glam! We often saw Carrie sport her go-to staple: basic tank tops. In season 3, she chose to dress up the basic tank with a flamboyant purple floral brooch. She paired her elevated tank top with light pink skinny pants and the iconic white and gold Dior Saddle bag. Trust Carrie to make a massive floral brooch look so cool and trendy.

9) Carrie‘s Versace Gown

One of the most glamorous and dreamy looks from the series has to be the Atelier Versace Couture Mille Feuille gown worn by Carrie when she was in Paris during season 6. In a dusty bluish-grey hue, the gown is made from layers of tulle and sequins. The voluminous gown is nothing short of royalty and makes Carrie look like the queen that she is.
