Nikkhil Advani‘s and Siddharth Roy Kapur are all set to produce on of their most ambitious projects yet, a space drama ‘Rocket Boys’. The series is set to retrace the life and achievements of some of our greatest scientists like Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai & APJ Abdul Kalam.

This retelling is all about their contribution in the field of nuclear science and space research, and it also gives us a glimpse into their lives and their families. So, it was important for the producers to make sure they had all the necessary permissions from the respective families of the scientists to tell their stories to the world. Speaking to Mid-Day, producer Nikkhil Advani says that they had contacted the families in the early stages of scripting and were in touch with them throughout.

He told the publication:

The Sarabhai family is completely on board. The script was shared with them at an early stage. We have spoken to the family of Homi Bhabha, and they are keen to see an authentic story being made on the great scientists.

Out of the three personalities, we only know that Paatal Lok fame, Ishwak Singh is set to play Vikram Sarabhai. The director also shares that Mallika Sarabhai, the late scientist’s daughter, has also agreed to choreograph a few dance sequences that her mother performed in 1950.

The series is set to stream on Sony LIV and is directed by Abhay Pannu. They started shoot for it last month in Jaipur. Nikkhil informs that the 150-day schedule will be shot across Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan, Mussourie, Cambridge and London. The UK schedule will happen post the COVID-induced lockdown restrictions relax.

I sure am super thrilled to see this interesting series come to life and can’t wait to know more about it!
