Amitabh Bachchan‘s grand daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda made their family proud as she featured in Vogue India‘s latest edition. She spoke about her initiative, Project Naveli, which fights for a gender equal world. She also spoke about her family, her career and more.

Speaking about her family and the women she has grown up around, she says she has always been surrounded by working women right from her grandmother, mother or her bua (aunt) and that financial and educational importance is extremely important. To this, a troll attacked her mother, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, asking what work she has done.

Navya, who didn’t want to let it pass and make a point said that it is not right to discredit women who are homemakers. She also goes on to say that her mother is “an author, writer, designer, wife and mother”.

She further writes,

Being a mother & wife is a full-time job. Please don’t discredit women who are homemakers! Their role is so crucial in the upbringing of a generation that will hopefully support their contribution instead of tearing it down.

More power to her for using her platform and young voice for throwing light and bringing about such important conversations.

In the interview with Vogue India, Navya also expressed her desire about joining her father’s business rather than joining the film industry. She says that she will be the fourth generation who will take forward the legacy built by her great-grandfather HP Nanda, and most importantly, the first woman.

Navya is Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda‘s first daughter. They also have a son named Agastya Nanda.
