Actor Tanuj Virwani, who made his mark with his stint on the show, Inside Edge as the cricketer Vayu Raghavan, was all set to be back with another show titled Kamathipura soon. But the implementation of recent Information and Broadcast guidelines has proved to be a set back for its OTT Release.

The actor is set to play the antagonist on the show alongside Meera Chorpa, who plays a cop. They were gearing up for the release on March 8 today. But according to an article by Bollywood Hungama, the hard-hitting series was was put on hold by the officials at Disney+ Hotstar so as to avoid any controversy or moral policing. The article also suggests that the series has a “profusion of unparliamentary language and scenes of prolonged violence”.

Speaking about this sudden decision, Tanuj says that he is shocked but that the makers of his show have informed him that this needs to be done according to the new OTT guidelines. He also adds that the show will be ready to stream soon in a few days.

When asked about the impact that these guidelines will have in the content that comes out on OTT, Tanuj says that if it is done in a logical and fair manner, it shouldn’t hamper the content too much. But he adds that because certain makers pushed the the creative liberty that the platform provided them with in terms of language and violence, the others are now “suffering a collateral damage”.
