Dev Patels debut directorial has been bagged by Netflix in a 30 million dollar deal. The filming of the movie is done. The film features Dev as an unlikely hero who emerges from prison to take on a world engulfed in corporate greed and declining spiritual values. His character seeks revenge from some of those who took everything from him a few years before.

Reportedly after seeing the film’s footage, Netflix beat other bidders to close the deal with the producers. People who’ve seen the footage of the film is calling it, John Wick in Mumbai. The film is slated for release on Netflix in 2022. The film is partially inspired by the Hindu god Hanuman, who is half Monkey and half-human. The film was supposed to be shot in India last year but due to the pandemic, it was rerouted to Indonesia. The film will also star Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikander Kher, and Sharlto Copley.

According to Deadline.com, Dev is thrilled that the film will be releasing on Netflix and that his work will now become the world’s work.

Dev also co-wrote the script of the film along with Paul Angunawela and his Hotel Mumbai collaborator John Collee.

The buzz for this revenge thriller has been strong and we can’t wait to watch the final product of Dev’s and the entire crew’s hard work on Netflix next year.
