Vidya Balan Aces The Print-On-Print Trend With A Cool Summer Look

Nelly Wadia

Vidya Balan is a Bollywood star I look up to. She’s candid, honest and vocal about everything she stands for and frankly Bollywood needs more of that. Just take a look at her Instagram captions and you’ll know she’s funny AF and doesn’t view life in black and white. I love that she is body positive and sets a great example of how to love one’s body. The actor has the most enviable taste when it comes to her ethnic sartorial choices. Almost all the saree’s she wears has us wanting to add them to our wardrobes.

Vidya is also #VocalForLocal and will often wear outfits from smaller brands. The star has a clear understanding on what works for her that one can really relate and identify with her style. On the work front, Vidya will star in Amit V. Masurkar‘s satire Sherni as a forest officer. Vidya will produce and star in an untitled web series based on Sagarika Ghose‘s biography Indira–India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister.

Let’s take a closer look at Vidya Balan acing a cool summer OOTD:

Pranay Jaitly and Shounak Amonkar of Who Wore What When style Vidya Balan is a super casual summer look. The actress captions her Insta post by suggesting that she gets dressed to have tea on her balcony thanks to Covid-19. Isn’t this true since we have no where to go these days? We simply do it to feel the push to be productive. Raise your hands if you relate! In this look, Vidya is acing the print-on-print trend with a look from Swati Vijaivargie. She wears a cape with Indian motifs inspired from the Amer print, which she expertly pairs with diagonal striped, cigarette pants. On the inside, she wears a white, cotton tank top. I believe it is the tank top that really makes this outfit ideal for the summer heat.

She accessorises her look with chunky, white slingback heels, a silver vintage cuff from Sheetal Zaveri by Vithaldas. However, the most exciting accessory to me is her Vipul Shah, potli sling bag. The colours and print totally pop against the pastel tones of her look. Totally digging the hippie, music festival vibe of this whole ensemble.

Makeup artist Harshal Jariwala gives her a clean face with rosy cheeks, strong brows and a brown lip. And hairstylist Shalaka Bhosle gives her a middle parting with really voluminous, wavy locks. Not the greatest fan of the hair and makeup but it works and she looks great.
