On the occasion of actor Simu Liu‘s birthday yesterday, Marvel Studios unveiled the trailer for ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. The film marks the studio’s first-ever project starring an Asian lead.

The movie stars Simu in the titular role while Awkwafina plays the role of his best friend, Katy. Tony Leung will be seen as Wenwu/The Mandarin, the father of Shang-Chi and the leader of the Ten Rings. The Marvel film also stars Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.

According to the description shared by Marvel on their official website, “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”

Have a look at the teaser here—

According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, Liu expressed his excitement and was quoted as saying—”We know so many different versions of Batman’s origin story, how his parents were murdered when he was very young. We know Peter Parker, who was bitten by a radioactive spider, and he loses his uncle. Shang-Chi’s story is very much unknown to most of the world, so we had a lot of freedom and creative liberty to make it the way that we wanted to”.

Helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is all set to hit the theatres on September 3.

I am super excited about this one and sure can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.
