I still remember the first time I saw Yami Gautam in Vicky Donor and I was completely awestruck with the way how she presented herself on-screen. The actress is celebrating 9 glorious years in the film industry today and I feel her choice of unconventional scripts and impeccable acting skills have made her a household name in no time.
Coming from a humble background to becoming the industry’s leading and most bankable artist, Yami’s journey has been nothing but inspirational. The actress started from television and went on to be a part of 5 films all in different languages before entering the Hindi Film Industry. The powerhouse performer is hailed for breaking the glass ceiling by taking strong female characters. From essaying a powerful role of an Intelligent Officer, Pallavi in the biggest hit of 2019 –Uri: The Surgical Strike to playing a visually impaired character in Kaabil, she has given some of the bravest on-screen female figures.
The feeling is surreal and it can’t really be articulated in words. It was an incredible journey. I have had the best of opportunities to work with some phenomenal directors, actors and of being a part of some amazing projects. It was a dream to tell stories that I believe, to entertain people, and I just wish to continue doing that.
Owing to her immense popularity and back-to-back successful films, the stunner has a jam-packed calendar. Yami has as many as 8 releases lined up for the year. Her upcoming films include Dasvi– starring Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur; A Thriller flick film titled, A Thursday directed by Behzad Khambata; Bhoot Police with Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The actress also has Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Lapata in the pipeline. Looks like 2021 is a busy year for this actress and I’m excited to see her on-screen.
