1. Exfoliate first

Girl you really don’t want your matte lipstick to highlight any cracks and flaws or settle into any fine lines so exfoliating is essential. It’ll remove all the dry or dead skin that can make your lipstick look rough and uneven. Use a homemade sugar scrub or gently exfoliate your lips with a soft bristle toothbrush. This will also keep your lips looking and feeling soft.

2. Add moisture

Now that you’ve sloughed off all the dead skin to reveal a clean canvas you need to add the moisture back in so your lips don’t dry up. Apply a lightweight lip treatment like a balm, oil or any nourishing treatment. This fills in any cracks and helps soften your lips for your matte lipstick to go on smoother.

4. Use a matching lip liner

5. Clean up the edges

First, blot any excess colour or shine with tissue paper. If you find. That you made a mistake dip a cotton swab into micellar water and dab of the edges you want to clean up. With that done it’s time to fine-tune the edges. Take a small brush with a tiny dab of concealer to clean up and sharpen the outside edges of your lips. Carefully blend the outer edges with your pinky finger where your concealer meets your foundation. Be careful not to mess up your lipstick and voila you’re good to go.
