Sonu Sood Appeals For Free Education For Children Who Lost Their Parents To COVID-19

Shubanka Sridhar

COVID-19 has honestly turned many lives in our country upside down, with the current second wave of the pandemic looming large over us. Many families have lost their loved ones all in a span of a few days. Small children have lost their parents, which has got to be one of the most heartbreaking thing to happen. There is so much one is dependent on their parents for, and this leaves a lot of kids lost.

Sonu Sood, who has been actively and voluntarily helping out the ones in need amidst the pandemic, proved he is someone who thinks of everyone. Sonu shared a video on his social media, requesting the Central and state governments to consider the futures of children, as young as 8, 10 or 12 year-olds who have lost one or both parents to COVID-19. He says their education — right from schooling to college — should be free of cost, so that they don’t lose a chance at life.

In the video, he said in Hindi:

I want to request the central and state governments and humanitarian organisations that are trying to help… There should be a rule that any child who has lost family members during Covid-19, their education, from school to college, be it in a government school or private school, should be free of cost. Whichever field they want to pursue studies in, be it engineering or medicine, should be free of cost. There should be a rule so that they can save their future.

Here is his video:

Sonu recently recovered from COVID-19. Even through his ordeal, he has continued to help and support anyone who has reached out to him, like he has been doing ever since the pandemic struck India last year at the same time.

Kudos to Sonu for always looking out and being the humanitarian we need in today’s time.

We are aware times are tough and here’s a reminder that we are all in this together. Stay safe, stay home and mask up, everyone.
