Last year, when the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread like wildfire across the country, many Bollywood films decided to skip the traditional theatrical release. With theatres being shut during the lockdown, many producers didn’t find it workable to keep holding the release of the movies. Hence, they decided to opt for an OTT release. But as time passed, the number of cases began to reduce and movie theatres also began to open which gave confidence to many filmmakers to opt for a theatrical release first. Sadly, very few films came to theatres, and then once again, the cases began to shot up. And now once again due to the theatres downing their shutters have tempted producers to indulge in the OTT bandwagon.
A week ago, the makers of Salman Khan‘s Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai announced that they have decided to release the film on Eid in cinemas as well as on a pay-per-view platform, ZeePlex. And now, according to reports the much-awaited film, Bellbottom, starring Akshay Kumar, will premiere on OTT.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film will premiere on Disney+Hotstar. The report quoted a source as saying—“Bellbottom will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. The makers have agreed to the financials being offered. They feel it’s a practical decision since the theatres would not open anytime soon. The makers and Hotstar team are now deciding when to release this film.”
Helmed by Ranjit Tiwari, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi among others.
