The COVID-19 pandemic and its intense second wave in India has impacted the country in more ways that one. Various different personalities and celebrities have come forward to amplify major concerns and lend a helping hand in these tough times.

Sonu Sood has been an active volunteer who has helped tens and thousands of people in the past year who have been in trouble owing to the pandemic. He recently appealed to the Government and humanitarian organisations to ensure free education to all the children who have lost both their parents to COVID-19. This sentiment was echoed by none other than Global actor and producer and philanthropist, Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

PC recently chanced upon her colleague from Bollywood, Sonu Sood’s video and shared it on her page, lauding him for his noble thoughts and efforts. She wrote that she is inspired from Sonu’s critical observation about these children who need support. Calling him a visionary philanthropist, she appreciated how he also had a solution to this issue.

Sharing her thoughts about Sonu’s proposition to the Centre and State governments and other humanitarian organisations, PC shares that she also supports Sonu’s idea entirely. She adds that she will also actively work towards finding ways to support education of these children because she believes that is every child’s birthright

To this, minister Smriti Irani replied and shared that if anyone happens to find a child who has been orphaned in these times, they need to immediately contact the Childline – 1098 as all State governments and district authorities are on high alert to aid such children.

Priyanka and her singer/actor husband, Nick Jonas, have been actively voicing their concern about the rising cases in India and even began a fundraiser to gather resources to fund for essential medical equipments, hospital beds and medicines.

It sure is gratifying to see our celebrities use their huge platforms and their voice to amplify and throw light on such important conversations that’s the need of the hour.
