The Indian television industry is famously known for its serials lasting many years, amirite? While this helps the actors form a loyal and lasting relationship with their audiences, story wise, it becomes stagnant after a point. This has been a qualm for many television audiences in the past too. And seems like the actors also feel this way at times.

Karan Patel, who is well-known for his stint in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, recently spoke to Times Of India about working on the show for years.

Speaking about acting in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, he says that he has worked on the show for 6 years and gained an immense fan following. He adds that he isn’t complaining about it, but there were times when he felt that they should end the show as the storyline wasn’t advancing. Rather, he says, it’s better to end the show on a high note and not drag it on because then the audiences are going to be excited for the show to return in the next season.

Speaking about seasons of a show, Karan says that it’s ‘high time‘ that the Indian television industry starts making finite series. He shares that he hasn’t been seen much on screen because he ‘hasn’t been offered anything interesting’.

Karan points out that content otherwise is evolving in the OTT platforms, but that the Indian television industry is still stuck to its regressive storylines. He adds that when he talks about the progressive content on OTT, he isn’t referring to nudity, sex, violence or profanity, but he is referring to the stories that are being told. He ends by saying that people’s mindsets need to change so they can see a change in the content ok television.

Karan also participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 last year, and emerged a runner-up on the show. Well, I sure cannot wait to see him land interesting projects and to see him back on our screens!
