Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is one movie that is super close to my heart for more reasons than one. Because it had my favourite on-screen (and off-screen while they were dating) couple — Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukonecome together after their infamous breakup. It spoke about love, friendships, career, marriage and ambitions in a way that was fun yet emotional, hitting all the right notes with the music, humour and lines! Along with Bunny (Ranbir) and Naina (Deepika), Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) and Avinash a.k.a Avi (Aditya Roy Kapoor), made for a gang of friends we fell in love with!

Basically, you get it’s a film I cannot get enough of. Guess director Ayan Mukerji and Dharma Productions got a sense of that a little too well. And they decided to release a bunch of deleted scenes from the film that surely made me jump in joy! Today, as it completes 8 years, I decided to re-watch these deleted scenes on Dharma‘s YouTube page, and it just gives you the feeling of holding onto the characters and the story for a little longer, a kind of warmth that Bunny feels when he asks Naina to hug him for just 2 more minutes.

Here are the deleted scenes for you’ll to watch:

Bunny Meets Naina’s Mom

While we only see Naina interact with her mom before she goes to Manali, we get to see how her relationship with her has now changed so much — almost like they are two good friends now. Bunny runs into her, and not in the most appropriate fashion, which makes it all so much more hilarious. Got to love how he runs out of the room saying aunty looked ‘sexy’ in her bath robe! This scene is right before the two of them set off to explore the streets of Udaipur.

The morning of the Haldi function

One of my favourite ones from the lot, this is the one where Bunny and Naina speak what we all feel and believe. Naina catches him trying to flee the wedding festivities and decides to help him dress up and attend Aditi’s haldi ceremony. And after he is dressed, he looks in the mirror, with Naina standing next to him and exclaims, ‘Waah kya hit lag rahi hai na humari jodi?’ and Naina says, ‘Hit nahi, super hit!‘. Ah, these two and this scene gives me all the feels!

Aditi Breaks Down

We all know Aditi had feelings for Avi. And guess who is the only one who didn’t know? Yes, Avi himself. In Manali, when he is flirting with the other girl, Aditi feels bad and gets very frustrated about her one-sided feelings. That’s when Naina senses this and lends a shoulder to cry on for Aditi, thus the beginning of their friendship and bond!

Scenes From Manali

There are a few scenes of the group checking into the hotel where Aditi asking Naina to share a room with her and the boys also have a brief interaction with her – the start of their super fun time on the trek! Then there’s a track where we see Bunny and Naina catch each other’s attention, but he continues flirting with Lara (Evelyn Sharma), irking Naina! The Bhuta Parbat scene is also a cool one as the story the guide tells them can somewhat be co-related to Naina and Bunny’s story too! (Of course, excluding the haunting part).

Naina & Bunny explore Udaipur

In the film, we only see Naina and Bunny fall for each other as they bond over their favourites when they go around Udaipur. In this scene, we see the beginnings of their adoration for each other. Naina explains to him that love is when you feel happiness and joy (sukoon) when sharing your heart and soul with someone and seeing them happy. She even gives up her Ganesh ji (who is closest to her) and gives it to Bunny and it’s the sweetest.

Aren’t these such precious bits from the film! I’m so glad they decided to share these with us and spread a little bit more smiles and love around. Which one is your favourite?
