Mumbai — called the city of dreams — is rightly called so because every day, so many people come there to pursue their dreams with stars in their eyes. Some make it, but some don’t. Anupam Kher was one such actor who landed in Mumbai (then Bombay) from Shimla 40 years ago with a dream, and what a journey he has had!
He made his debut with the film ‘Saaransh’ in 1984, and from there on there was no looking back for this talented actor. But it has been a journey that started from the bottom, and to commemorate that, Anupam Ji visited the first ever rented house he lived at in the city with four other flatmates.
In his caption, he wrote:
My 40 years in Mumbai. I landed in the ‘city of dreams’, Mumbai on the 3rd June, 1981 to try my luck in Indian Cinema. This city has been extremely kind to me. From a nobody it allowed me to become somebody. Last week, I went to the place I first lived in. I go their often. I shared my small room with four other people! But my address was literally an eye opener and an indicator of what was going to follow. The only thing required out of me was hard work. Thank you 2/15, Kherwadi for giving me a roof! You will always remain my most special and iconic address.

Mom reacts to my #40YearsInMumbai. But goes to all other topics. We discuss whether we felt poor or not. She calls our Father chor and then laughs. Then goes into stories of small thefts by my brother too. She is a चलता फिरता एंटरटेनमेंट चैनल। Touch wood!! God give her long and healthy life. She is hilarious and always forgets that there is a camera recording her conversations. Watch it and enjoy!
