Aanand L Rai is celebrating the completion of 8 years of his film, ‘Raanjhanaa‘ that starred Dhanush K Raja, Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol and Swara Bhasker. And what better way to celebrate this by starting another project that’s close to his heart on the same day? The director began shoot for his next film, Raksha Bandhan, which is set to star Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead.

Marking this start, Akshay also took to his social media to share a glimpse of his look from the film where he is sitting next to Aanand with the clapboard in his hand. His look is simple, wearing a yellow kurta and sitting in a place that looks like a humble neighbourhood.

In his caption, he wrote that his sister Alka was his first friend and that it was the most effortless friendship. He says that the film is dedicated to her and a celebration of that bond.

Speaking about starting the film today, Aanand L Rai says:

21st June means a lot to me. This day made me courageous! Brave enough to tell the stories which I believed in. 8-years back on the same day Raanjhanaa released, and today, I started shooting for Rakshabandhan! May Mahadev grace this story the way he did Raanjhanaa!

Giving audiences films that are unique yet so relatable and realistic is what Aanand L Rai is known for. Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films. I sure cannot wait to see what he, Akshay, Bhumi and the others have in store for us with this one!
