Watching movies is one of my fave pastimes and what better way to spend our leisure time than having a full-on Bollywood movie marathon? We’re all big Bollywood buffs around here, amirite? Don’t we all adore slow romantic sequences and the renowned father-daughter scenes from the movies? I’m pretty sure we all have imagined ourselves in these filmy movies. So, here are a few Reels by Dolly Singh that show us her unique edginess with lots of mirch-masala added to these well-known Bollywood characters. I’m sure after seeing Dolly’s amazing performance here, you won’t be able to unsee it in the OG films and surely gonna miss her there.

Check em’ out

1. Dolly as ‘Naina Talwar‘ from YJHD

Naina‘s character from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is one of our favourites, isn’t it? A simple girl that begins her own fascinating life journey. However, we agree with Dolly that food is far more valuable than many other shenanigans of a wedding, and we certainly wouldn’t want to be the last to arrive, ‘cuz can’t keep the food waiting, amirite?. This recreation has defo changed our whole mood and perception of the scene. We love her expressions, which are bang on and we can’t get enough of the melodic finish of ‘hey kabira’.

2. Dolly as ‘Laila‘ from ZNMD

Well, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is the film that made us wish we could live in it. Well, after this pandemic is over, we would definitely like to go on a trip with our pals, preferably Goa, sushhhh don’t tell anyone. Dolly has captured our lives well, surely we can’t go on vacations without a Dabba prepared by our mothers, and there’s always a deadline for returning home, don’t y’all relate with this as well? We surely love our new quite so desi Laila and ngl, we think she and her red Activa surely deserves a role in the sequel.

3. Dolly as the iconic ‘Pooh‘ from K3G

Do people even get bored of watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham ever? The super classic and famous character, Pooh played by Kareena Kapoor Khan has been everyone’s favourite and has influenced a lot of others to want to be like her. But wait, there’s a new Poo with her own set of insecurities. Our new Pooh, a.k.a. Dolly, delivered a powerful message, challenging deeply held ideas with a dash of humour and sarcasm, and damn, that’s what we call a role model. Hallelujah, she’s giving us serious self-love and confident vibes!

4. Dolly as ‘Heer Kaul ‘ from Rockstar

As always, Dolly is killing it. Unlike the OG Heer, Dolly used reverse psychology here to tackle different situations such as this. Yes, this is our Heer from 2021, living her life on her own terms, caring about no one, and a pinch of desp-heer-ation. Our millennial Heer’s life motto is ‘honesty is the best policy’. Well, what do you think how will your inner Heer react to this.

5. Dolly as evergreen ‘Kammo Ji ‘ from Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai

Dolly here in a B&W frame is a vision for us. Coming straight from Gen-Z, we don’t know anything about black and white films like this. However, we all know that in those times, we defo required a progressive character one such as our modern Kammo Ji. We totes had a lot of fun seeing our millennial Kammo Ji have good banter with her potential significant other. Btw, how would you react to a question like this? Tbh, we’d go nuts if someone asked us this. Also, we’d love to see more of our millennial Kammo Ji on screen.

6. Dolly as ‘Reena‘ from Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein

Until Dolly dropped a big truth bomb on us as Reena, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein was our all-time fave movie. We’re stunned by Dolly’s performance and really find her perspective insightful.

Thank you very much, Dolly. These recreations were much needed for all of us, and we can’t seem to get ’em out of our heads. We can defo relate to the desi progressive versions of these famous characters, and they are undoubtedly depicted at their finest. Our personal fave is the songs played at the end of the Reels, hehe. We surely would love to see you on a big screen someday soon with your own hatke content and punchlines that would keep us ROFLing. I also urge everyone to keep their masks on and get vaccinated from their nearest centres. Take care and stay home, stay safe.
