The ongoing pandemic has disrupted movie shoot schedules resulting in the delay of film production. The film industry has been waiting for quite some time now for shoots and production to resume. As per the reports of Bollywood Hungama, Srijit Mukherji will replace Rahul Dholakia for one of the most anticipated films of 2022, ‘Shabaash Mithu‘ starring Taapsee Pannu.

The film is based on the life of the captain of the Indian Women’s ODI cricket team, Mithali Raj. Due to the lockdown, the shoot had to be rescheduled and as a result, Rahul had to move on from this project because of the delay. As per the reports of Bollywood Hungama, Rahul in a statement to the media said, “There are some films which you know you have to do. ‘Shabaash Mithu’ was that film. Covid-19 messed up everyone’s schedules, mine was no different. Unfortunately, I won’t be directing the fabulous script written by Priya Aven and conceived by Ajit Andhare on the life of the legendary cricketer Mithali Raj.”

Filmmaker Srijit has won multiple national awards for his work. Speaking about his next venture, the filmmaker said, “Being a cricket buff and researcher, Mithali’s tale has always been an inspiration to me. I was excited since I had first heard of this film being made and now that I am a part of it I look forward to kickstarting the journey to bring this exhilarating story to the silver screen soon.” I am super excited about this film and can’t wait to see Taapsee in it!

With that said, hope you all are staying safe at home and taking care of yourselves. Always remember to wear a mask and sanitize your hands regularly.
