If you are someone who loves to read comics, and The Archies especially, this one is going to make you really happy. Zoya Akhtar is coming up with an Indian adaptation of the most loved childhood comics, The Archies and to the joy of many, the filmmaker made the announcement today. Zoya is a dexterous director and knowing that she is going to bring us an Indian version of Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones and Archie Andrews is just delightful.
The film will be released on Netflix, who also made it official on their Instagram handle by sharing a small comic strip. The film will be co-produced by The Hindi adaptation of The Archie comics will be co-produced by Zoya and Reema Kagti along with Sharad Devarajan under their respective production companies Tiger Baby and Graphic India. Later, the same post was shared by Zoya Akhtar which received a lot of enthusiastic reactions from fellow industry mates.

Zoya Akhtar is very much excited to be directing The Archies and in a statement she said:
It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today.
The best and most interesting part of this film is surely going to be the cast. As per a report by Hindustan Times, Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan are rumoured to be playing the lead characters in the film. However, nothing has been confirmed by the makers as of now. So, we must wait until the cast is announced. As for these young people, I definitely hope that the rumours are true as they will undoubtedly do a marvelous job.
The news was very well received among the masses as many celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Maheep Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda among others expressed their enthusiasm in the comments section on Zoya Akhtar’s post.
