Over the last decade or so, Hindi remakes of South hits have become a sure shot formula for success in Bollywood. There are about a dozen South remakes currently in different stages of production in the Hindi film circuit. One of them is HIT-The First Case. It brings Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra together for the first time and it’s the casting that has got me excited. Today, the makers announced a release date for the film as well and it is set to open theatrically on May 20, 2022.
The suspense thriller is a remake of the 2020 Telugu film by the same name that featured Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in the lead. It follows the story of a cop grappling with a personal tragedy, who has to put aside his emotions and focus on the trail of a missing girl.
HIT went on floors on September 12 and Dr Sailesh Kolanu, who directed the original Telugu version, returned to helm the Hindi version too. It is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore.
This is the second release date announcement in the past week for the new groom, Rajkummar, who got married to long-time partner Patralekhaa on November 14 in Chandigarh. He has Badhaai Do releasing on February 4, 2022 next and also a Netflix original, titled Monica, O My Darling. Whereas Sanya just had the release of Meenakshi Sundareshwar and will follow it with Love Hostel. She is also reportedly starring in Shah Rukh Khan’s next with Atlee. It’s an enviable line-up that both these actors have and I am really excited to see them rule the big screens soon.
