Ever since it was announced that Maharashtra theatres were reopening, a plethora of release date announcements took place in Bollywood and it is still continuing to happen. Filmmakers and actors, who had been waiting with bated breath, are rushing to book their weekend slots. Even today, already two big films have announced their opening date and now a third one has joined the list and as a Bollywood buff, I am really enjoying this adrenaline rush in the industry. Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor-starrer Jug Jugg Jeeyo has locked the date of June 24, 2022 to arrive in theatres.

Here’s the announcement:

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is a fun family dramedy and the story reportedly is about two couples from different generations who are grappling with the post-marriage issues, and it is all dealt in a humorous way that leaves a very beautiful message at the end. It also stars Prajakta Koli and Maniesh Paul.

Instead of choosing to do a straight announcement, the film’s team chose a fun way to make the event more interesting. A few hours ago, the whole main cast, comprising Varun, Kiara, Anil and Neetu, shared a video of the four of them on a video call where they are trying to pursue their producer Karan Johar to come out with their film’s release date.

Here’s the video:

Anil shows his humorous side in the video as he remarks, ‘Karan to abhi Rocky Shocky mein busy hai’, referring to Karan’s next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. He even confuses Ranveer with Ranbir (Ranbir Kapoor), at which Neetu instantly butts in to correct him on her son’s behalf. But Varun’s quippy take on it that even Ranbir is working with Karan in Brahmastra had me in splits.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is helmed by Good Newwz director Raj Mehta and produced by Karan. The selling point for me in this film is the amazing casting and the promise of the cracking chemistry between Varun and Kiara that we saw a glimpse of in Kalank and I am really eager to see that. It also marks Neetu’s return to the screens after eight years so that is just an added bonus. This is surely going to be a fun ride.
