One of the well-acclaimed veteran actors, Harish Patel, has lately made headlines for his role in Marvel’s Eternals. This happened to be the most celebrated break for the actor and a chance for him to get back to the mainstream media. Before his Hollywood break, the actor had stopped working in India and had shifted to the UK.
After not seeing Harish for so long in Hindi films people started speculating the actor is dead. Talking about the same in an interview with Hindustan Times Harish quashed all the assumptions that people had.
The actor said-
Ever since people saw me in the trailer of the film, Eternals, they started talking about me. All of a sudden, I became a talking point. But before that, I had heard that people just assumed that mein duniya mein nahi raha. I am no more. I used to wonder why didn’t people check with me once before jumping to such conclusions. Google search hi kar lete ke ke kahan gaya Harish Patel, mar gaya ya zinda hai. Just because mein yahan kaam nahi kar raha tha, ya dikh nahi raha tha, toh bas bol diya ke nahi raha. (People could have googled where did Harish Patel go? Is he dead or alive? Just because I am not working here or not making any appearance people just believed that I passed away.)
He further added-
Ek dum se 14 saal baad, mere par logun ko itna pyaar aaya, aur they started asking ke sir aapne phele kyun nahi bataya. I thought why should I be the one telling them, or serving all the information on a platter. Usmein kya hi maaza hai (Suddenly after 14 years, people started endearing me. They started asking why I didn’t tell them earlier? I thought why should I be the one telling them, or serving all the information on a platter. What fun would it be?). They should have done some hard work to find it out.
He also quipped-
Duniya bahut badi hai, aap kab tak kue ke menduk baane rahoge (The world is very big, until when are you going to be ignorant.) Come out and see. It is important for people to expand their thoughts for others. Stop thinking that a person is sitting idle at home just because he/she is out of the public eye.
The actor further stated that he can’t express how disappointed he was about it but feels lucky he got a chance to do Eternals and be a part of it all.
