5 Movies You Need To Watch To Feel The Warmth On A Cozy Friday Night

Mitisha Mavani

It is Friday! Pop some popcorn, pour yourself a glass of wine, pull out your comfiest pyjamas, cuddle up in the fuzziest blanket and put on your favourite classic movie—we’ve got you covered with our recommendations!

1) No Strings Attached

Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman’s chemistry gets you in the feels! You can watch this one with a side of tissues. Be it Ashton’s stunning pearly white smile or Natalie’s endearing charm, the heartwarming scenes to the dialogues make you skip a beat—it is a package you do not want to miss.

You might just feel all the more single than you did on Valentine’s Day but it’s worth it.

Pro-Tip: For all my pretty ladies who will wait for their Ashton Kutcher after they watch the movie, I am sorry not everyone can give you premature ventricular contractions and that says it all.

2) Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

This movie is a whole mood except the part where I get major FOMO and keep sulking after it ends. This masterpiece directed by Ayaan Mukherjee is an absolute gem with brilliant performances from Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin Kanmani and Aditya Roy Kapoor. With scenic locations from the snow-covered summits in Himachal Pradesh to the sun-kissed royal life in Udaipur, the film promises 3 hours of warmth and wholesomeness. Be it the soulful music, the perfect timing of the scenes or just their timeless friendship, it takes you back in time! You may want to call up a friend and just skip reality for a moment after you watch this one but who’s complaining?

3) Dear Zindagi

This Gauri Shinde directorial is very close to my heart. From Alia Bhatt’s mind-blowing acting performance to Shah Rukh Khan’s charming portrayal of Dr Jug—it all hits too close to home. The movie acts like the therapy session you never knew you needed. Shot against the beautiful, beachy boho Goa backdrop, this movie comes to you as an unexpected warm hug on a cold winter morning, the kind that might just put a few broken pieces back together. If not for anything else, you must give it a shot for the King of Romance and the simplistic magic he weaves on-screen with his evergreen charm.

4) Pursuit of Happyness

One of my all-time favourite movies, this film starring Will Smith and his son Jayden Smith in pivotal roles will make you curl up in a corner and cry one minute and then give you the biggest reason to smile through the tears the very next. The wonderful and heart-wrenching portrayal of a helpless dad to a young son makes your heart hurt but fills it with endless warmth at the same time. Not a happy go lucky movie but is the perfect pick after a long day, it makes you laugh, it makes you cry but above all it makes you feel a million things without even experiencing it!

5) 3 Idiots

Let’s just transport you to a world of never-ending laughs and happy tears. This Rajkumar Hirani directorial is an all in all entertainer. From laughs to romance, to friendship to hardcore emotion, it has a little bit of everything. After a long hectic week, you need a dose of Chatur’s gimmicks, Rancho’s wit and Virus’s discipline. Get your tub of popcorn ready and prepare yourself for a laughing riot.
