It’s a proud moment for India as Harnaaz Sandhu wins Miss Universe 2021. She definitely won the nation’s heart as she brought home the crown after 21 years. This stunner journeyed to the top all the way from Chandigarh. Harnaaz started modelling at the young age of 17 and has won titles like the Miss Chandigarh 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 and Miss Diva Universe. With her killer looks and graceful demeanour, it’s no surprise that this beauty was able to make her way to the crown.

The 21-year-old model looked magnificent on the international stage as she made it to the finals. Her confidence, elegance and humility secured her the crown, but we believe these remarkable looks played some part in it as well. Throughout the events, Harnaaz has wowed us with some gorgeous looks which definitely made her the centre of attention! Scroll on for deets on her outfits.

Let’s have a look at them, shall we?

1. Abhinav Mishra

In this outfit, Harnaaz looked nothing less than a regal queen that exuded confidence and we love that for her! The beautiful, pink lehenga with detailed embellishment and mirror work by Abhinav Mishra certainly stole the show. When asked about the thought process while creating this outfit, the designer said,

“When we were informed that the national costume will be celebrating the rich and illustrious class of India and the power behind the royal Indian queen, it was a great message for us as it resonated with our brand as we represent the modern women of today who celebrate their inner royalty and grace. We chose a delicate colour like pink to celebrate femininity however it holds strength and power too! It is our brand colour and we chose to show our signature intricate mirror work and gota patti work to showcase the fine craftsmanship of our country.”

To add to the look, she accessorised it with traditional, heavy Indian jewellery like dangly earrings, bangles, a statement ring, a choker and hear and a multi-strand matha patti on her head.

2. Pankaj & Nidhi

Harnaaz looked incredibly radiant in Pankaj & Nidhi’s statement Rosenthum Orchid gown.

About the outfit, the designer duo said, “The pride of our nation Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu wore our statement Rosenthum Orchid gown which is handcrafted on sheer, orchid tulle and embellished in molten mosaic appliqué. We went for this look for Harnaaz for the evening gown round and the gold shimmery gown compliments her personality.”

This heavily embellished dress with a thigh-high slit and pink hues helped Harnaaz shine ever so bright and make quite the statement.

Their thoughts on being a part of this exciting experience were, “We are thrilled beyond words to be a part of such a momentous occasion and are so proud of her representing India with beauty and dignity and for bringing back the crown after 21 years.”

3. Saisha Shinde

For the final round, Harnaaz wore a custom Saisha Shinde mermaid style gown. This winning gown, just like Harnaaz is sure to go down in history! Shimmery and sleeveless, this gown definitely made a lot of heads turn. The intricate embroidery and contemporary, geometric patterns on some netted, sheer fabric added to the regal vibe of her gown. The exquisite dress features a plunging neckline, corseted bodice that accentuates her curves and beaded tassels down the front. Adorned in sequins, the diva looked like an absolute princess as she made her way on stage. This gown was surely fit for the rightful queen, Harnaaz!

We asked Saisha about her thoughts when designing this outfit and this is what she said,

The most important thing I kept in mind was that she is Miss India and she needs to look a certain way which is why I made sure that the gown was first and foremost elegant but at the same time it was very powerful. It needed to have an element of strength and courage and that’s who I am as a person as well.

And her thoughts on being part of this experience are as follows:

It feels absolutely amazing to see your dream come true, not just for Harnaaz and India but for me as well because I remember watching Lara Dutta win the Miss Universe pageant and thinking hopefully there comes a day soon when I get to design a gown for Miss India and she wins Miss Universe in my gown. So not only did I manifest my dream but this is a moment I shall remember forever.
