Recently, it was reported that Harshvardhan Rane was going to be starring in a sports drama on football being helmed by Sanjay Gupta. The genre being a completely different one for both the actor and the filmmaker, made me excited and curious about the project. Football has rarely been explored in our films, so from the aspect of the game too, I was thrilled to know about this development. And seems like Sanjay has also completed the casting of his film.
According to a report in Peeping Moon, Sanjay has finalized Meezaan Jafri and Mouni Roy as the other two leads in the sports drama, and I have to say this trio would make for an interesting pairing on screen.
A source close to the development said:
“Meezaan and Harshvardhan will play the football players in the film while Mouni Roy plays the leading heroine, paired opposite Rane. The actors have signed the film and will start shooting for it in the first quarter of next year.”
The source added:
“Sanjay Gupta is embarking on a new journey with this fascinating project and has already begun the prep. He has more or less locked his AD team and will begin the pre-production work from January first week. Ajay G. Rai of Jar Pictures is producing it along with Gupta’s home banner White Feather Films. The film will go on floors in February and release in the third quarter of 2022.”
This film will mark Meezaan’s third outing in films after Malaal and Hungama 2, whereas Harshvardhan will first complete the shoot of Nilesh Sahay’s actioner Ambush, before jumping on to this one. Mouni will also be completing her web series, Delhi Sultanate, with Milan Luthria before joining this film. All these three actors are in an interesting phase of their career, and it will be an exciting trio to witness on screen.
