I have always loved when Bollywood experiments with its on-screen pairings and brings something new and fresh to the table, but revisiting tried and tested reel-life couples also has its own charm. There is a nostalgia attached to them that makes me, as an audience, connect to them more. And while Bollywood is offering a lot of freshness with its on screen pairs in 2022, there are many duos that are reuniting on the celluloid, and I am really excited to witness that as well.
Here are 10 on-screen reunions that I am looking forward to:
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif
On his birthday, Salman announced that Tiger 3 is expected to hit our screens before December 2022 and that had me all excited to see the reunion of Tiger and Zoya on screen. Salman and Katrina have given me many memorable blockbusters and I am sure that Tiger 3 will just add on to that list.
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone
With the Tiger 3 release date confirmation, Salman also admitted that Pathan will be releasing before that sometime this year, and knowing the success rate that has followed the pairing of SRK and Deepika, it just excites me all the more to see the duo reunite on screen. Also, it has been a long wait to see SRK back on the big screen, so it just makes it all the more amazing.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan
The third Khan is also on his way to reunite with a popular co-star of his as Aamir and Kareena team up again for Laal Singh Chaddha, a decade after their last collaboration, and I can’t wait for them to recreate the same magic that they did before with films like 3 Idiots and Talaash.
Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon
Kartik and Kriti won my heart with their stunning and innocent chemistry in Luka Chuppi, so I have been excited to witness them reunite on screen ever since the announcement of Shehzada was made. And going by the glimpses that the pair has shown from the shoot of the film, I am sure it is going to be a wild ride. Kriti is also reuniting with her Dilwale co-star Varun Dhawan in Bhediya in 2022.
Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani
Kiara got her breakout role in Lust Stories where she was paired opposite Vicky, and now after four years, the pair is teaming up again in Govinda Naam Mera. Going by the fun vibe that the announcement posters are giving, I am certain that it’s going to be one amazing reunion.
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar
The last time Akshay and Bhumi came together on screen in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the duo set the box-office on fire, and I expect nothing less as they come together in the New Year with Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan. Not just that, Akshay is reuniting with two other co-stars of his in 2022—Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez in Bachchan Pandey and with the latter again in Ram Setu.
John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez
I thoroughly enjoyed the flirtatious chemistry between John and Jacqueline in Dishoom and then again in Race 2, thus seeing them come back together for Attack really gives me a rush. And after the release of the film’s amazing teaser, my expectations have only increased.
Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria
Tara made her Hindi film debut opposite Tiger in Student Of The Year 2, so this reunion of the two in Heropanti 2 is special not just for me, as an audience, but also for the actors themselves. And seeing the track record the duo has with the part 2 of a successful franchise, I am sure this is going to be a banger as well. Tiger is also reuniting with his debut co-star Kriti in Ganapath.
Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh
De De Pyaar De proved to be a game changer for Rakul in Bollywood and thus her reunion with Ajay in Runway 34 and Thank God makes it all the more special. I am excited to see the two take over the sky in Ajay’s directorial and then tickle me in Thank God, which also marks Rakul’s reunion with Aiyyary co-star Sidharth Malhotra.
Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor
Rajkummar and Janhvi scared me this year with Roohi, and in 2022 the duo is all set to bring forward a heartwarming story around cricket with Mr and Mrs Mahi. The combination of cricket, cinema and the duo, just makes it a must watch already.
I am sure of the fact that these 10 pairs will take the legacy of their collaboration a notch higher with these new projects, and I can’t wait to be a witness to that. Hoping for many more collaborations for these amazing duos in the future.
