The film lover in me is just disappointed as I hear film releases being postponed again due to the rise of Covid cases in the country. First, it was Jersey, then RRR and now I hear, Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj also has been pushed.

Prithviraj was slated to release on January 21 and would have made for a perfect Republic day release owing to its period drama genre. But the makers apparently do not wish to take a risk amidst the increasing number of cases in the country. Also, the trailer of the film has gained an amazing response and makes up for a perfect big-screen watch, due to it being mounted on such a huge canvas. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted this announcement and wrote that the new release date is yet to be announced by Yash Raj Films.

Taran tweeted,

Kumar’s Sooryavanshi was responsible for bringing the audience back to the theatres after two years. It was the success of this Rohit Shetty film which made the rest of the industry confident enough to announce their release dates. But, Covid has brought everything to a pause again. I hope things are back in control and Khiladi Kumar is yet again successful in striking gold at the box-office when the new release date is announced.

Prithviraj has former Miss World Manushi Chhillar making her debut at the movies. The film is directed by Chandraprakash Dwiwedi who is still remembered for his epic Television drama, Chanakya which is another reason for me to be excited for Prithviraj.
