’83 was not just a film, it was an emotional journey I witnessed on the celluloid with Team India winning the 1983 World Cup. While this sports drama may not have opened at the box office as per expectations, it continued to gain momentum through word of mouth. Every actor has outdone himself and people who’ve seen the film cannot stop praising their work.
But, here’s some news! A recent report from BollywoodLife stated that Kabir Khan was in discussion with Ranveer Singh for another project and while ’83 saw the latter playing Kapil Dev, the next venture had him as a quadriplegic. Sajid Nadiadwala was to back this project. However, the latest developments state that this new collaboration has been stalled for time being as the makers are re-thinking this project. The said reason behind these second thoughts is that despite getting rave reviews, ’83 didn’t meet expectations at the box office, leading the team to incur some losses. However, in the last few days, the film has picked up especially in the Metros.
It would be so interesting to see Ranveer get into his chameleon shoes all over again and play a quadriplegic after being a sportsperson! I’m certainly hoping this film happens and we get to witness some good quality cinema again from this team.
