I was excitedly looking forward to the Grammy Awards that were meant to take place on January 31 this year, since the nominations looked so interesting this time. But, another disappointing news came in this morning.

Grammys 2022 has been postponed due to the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant. After consultation with the health officials and the state officials, the Recording Academy and CBS feel that it’s a huge risk to conduct Grammys on January 31.

Check out the Recording Academy’s Instagram Post below:

Their statement emphasizes on everyone’s safety, as it says,

“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority.”

Even last year, Grammy was postponed from January to mid-March due to Corona Virus; and it was Television friendly. The 2021 Grammys had a bare minimum audience, comprising of the nominees and guests in and around Los Angeles Convention Centre. Even the live performances were pre-taped and no risks were taken. So, this year as well, they’ve followed suit.

The new date is yet to be announced. But I truly hope, and so do fellow music lovers, that Music’s Biggest Night will be celebrated soon.
