Janhvi Kapoor is the daughter of a prolific producer like Boney Kapoor, so one must have assumed that she would make her film debut under his wings. But the actress paved her own path and did her first film under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions with Dhadak, and I have to say that she impressed me a lot. There is a screen presence that she has that kind of pulls me as an audience towards her, and with her subsequent films like Ghost Stories, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Roohi, the actress proved her mettle in acting, having me in awe of her.

After establishing herself in the industry, the actress is now collaborating with her father for the first time in the film Milli, and Janhvi couldn’t be more excited to work under his tutelage. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the actress opened up on working with Boney.

She said:

“I’ve always heard stories about how magnanimous a producer he is and how he spoils his directors and his entire team. I got to witness it. There’s always this fear of not spending enough time together, and this experience ensured that we’re professionally tied to each other. I feel very thankful for that.”

In 2021, Janhvi was amongst the few actors who got to enjoy a theatrical release, with Roohi releasing in theatres in March, and even though she accepts it was a “tough time” to release films, she is still happy with the response.

Janhvi added:

“It made me feel very lucky. It was an experiment in trying to gauge the climate of films during the pandemic. People did come out to see it in good numbers, which was encouraging.”

Janhvi has an interesting upcoming line up of films under her belt that include Aanand L Rai’s Good Luck Jerry, Mr And Mrs Mahi where she reunites with her Roohi co-star Rajkummar Rao and then Milli. And she is really looking forward to sharing these projects with her audience.

The actress shared:

“I’m super thrilled about my films and extremely hopeful about all of them. More than anything, I’m excited about getting started on the process of becoming the characters I’m going to play in my upcoming projects.”

I have always felt a connect with Janhvi and her roles and what I really like about her is that she lets her work do the talking for her. And with a line up like this, I am sure that she is going to roar at the box-office or the digital screens, wherever her films end up releasing, and I am excited to witness that happen.
