On January 1, 2022, Akshay Kumar posted a reel where he was seen enjoying the sunrise and he wrote, “New year, same me. Woke up and greeted my old friend, the sun..” Clearly, he continues to be his old self even in the new year. So, it comes as no surprise to hear now that AK will be shooting for 5-6 films in a year. The superstar has a long list of films lined up for shoots and release in 2022 and let us give you all the updates as per a report in Pinkvilla.
Akshay has begun the year with shooting for Ram Setu reportedly, which is set for release on Diwali 2022 if all goes well. Reportedly, he is also teaming up with Good Newwz director Raj Mehta again for a film tentatively titled Selfie. This film produced by Dharma Productions, is reportedly a remake of the Malyalam film, Driving License and sees Emraan Hashmi teaming up with Akshay. As per this report, there’s another film which the actor will begin in Summer 2022 after which he will move to Anand L Rai’s Gorkha directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, which is a period action saga. There’s also the sequel to OMG which he had started shooting last year.
One of the biggest speculations has been that Akshay and Tiger Shroff are set to team up for a huge action film and the shoot is expected to take place by end of 2022 once he wraps up all the above projects. And no, that’s not all that he’s going to be up to! The star also has a number of projects stated for release in 2022 which he would be promoting – like, Prithviraj, Bachchan Pandey, Cinderella, Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu. However, eventually, the Covid conditions will decide the release dates and shooting schedule of these projects. But AK’s film Bell Bottom was actually the first film to be shot and finished amidst the pandemic, so you never know! The actor is pretty much capable to complete shoots amidst the limitations too.
I’m just gasping for some air looking at this long list of movies and hectic schedules back-to-back! But the actor is actually known to fit in all of it, so efficiently. Perhaps, that’s why, there’s just one Akshay Kumar.
