I loved the chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy, and it wasn’t just me, but the whole industry that lauded and appreciated it. So much so, that Karan Johar is bringing the two together again for his upcoming directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Reportedly, the pairing will again be reuniting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra, and according to a report in Pinkvilla, there is a new update on it.

Ranveer and Alia have been shooting for Karan’s directorial for a few months now in Delhi, and while the film is expected to wrap up by March with a release scheduled for February 20223, the current wave of Covid might change those plans. But for now, the pair is expected to jump straight into the prep work for Baiju Bawra right after completing the shoot of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

A source close to the development said,

“The prep work on Baiju Bawra is going on side by side with the post production work of SLB’s next, Gangubai Kathiawadi. The team is planning to take it on floors by mid-2022 with a start to finish marathon schedule on humongous studios. Ranveer and Alia are locked to play the two leads in the film, and another leading lady is expected to come on board for a key role.”

The report further stated that the film will be shot over a period of seven to eight months in multiple studios and keeping in the SLB zone, the team is already working on designing grand sets to match the era the film is based in.

The source added,

“Alia and Ranveer aside, two more renowned actors – one male, one female – will come on board the project and the casting work is currently in progress.”

Deepika Padukone was touted to be playing a dacoit in the film but there hasn’t been any confirmation on that yet. Apart from Ranveer and Alia, the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized.

The source concluded,

“We shall have a clearer picture by this summer once the acting workshops begin in full swing. Both Ranveer and Alia will be training extensively as a part of their character prep.”

Ranveer and SLB have a long standing successful relationship, and the filmmaker’s first project with Alia, Gangubai Kathiawadi, has also shown a lot of promise with its trailer. Bringing this successful trio together would truly be a spectacle to see, and if what seems to be a grand outing on paper, delivers to its promise, it’s going to be one epic project.
