Horror is a genre that is very difficult to execute as you not just have to create an eerie environment, but also have to ensure that the audience feels immersed into it, otherwise the essence of it gets lost. In the recent years, if there is one film in the genre that has stuck with me, and also increased the bar for the genre, it has to be Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad. Even without the presence of a literal ghost, the film managed to scare me off like crazy. Ever since I first saw it, I have been wanting to see more of that world in a sequel, and Sohum teases that to his audience sometimes, but it seems like it would have to wait.

The actor has been actively sharing the glimpses of his preparation for a new project, which included him posting a picture of himself in blue prosthetics. Recently, he also shared a picture from a reunion with the team of Tumbbad, which gave me a hope for Tumbbad 2 in the near future. But now the actor has hinted that it’s something else cooking up in his latest post.

Check out Sohum’s post here:

Sohum took to his social media and posted a reel where he denied the coming of Tumbbad 2 and added in the caption,

“#NotTumbbad2. Thanks for continuing to shower so much love on Tumbbad but yeh look @sohumshahfilms ke ek naye project ke liye hai! #ComingSoon.”

Sohum stole my heart away with his intense and firm portrayal of Vinayak Rao in Tumbbad. He exhibited impatience, greed and pride with so much ease in his part, and even when it gets the better of him, Sohum’s portrayal never flattens. With his last outing in Maharani too, the actor was a class apart. It might not be Tumbbad 2 that is in the making for now, but it is clear that something big is underway. With so many hands on Sohum’s prosthetics, I am certain that he is really working hard on bringing something spectacular to me and his audience and it just makes the wait for it all the more exciting.
