It’s just been three weeks into the New Year and in just this short span of time, I have been made privy to some diverse content already on the OTT medium. While the theatre business is still trying to overcome the effect of the surge in cases of the Covid pandemic, the web space is thriving with its slate of content. And among those, Applause Entertainment has taken a lead by presenting three diverse projects—Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, Humble Politiciann Nograj and Bhaukaal Season 2—on different platforms. While I have enjoyed all these projects as a viewer, the content studio is just celebrating their success and aiming to better it in the year to follow.
Mohit Raina-starrer Bhaukaal Season 2 is the latest release from Applause this year and interestingly, it also marks its 30th release since its inception, and also its seventh show to boast of a second season. The first season of Bhaukaal released in early 2020 and became a roaring success for its hard-hitting storyline of a real-life super cop, Navniet Sekera. The second season of the show revolves around how this police officer in Muzaffarnagar, UP, busts the Dedha gang and brings law, order and peace to the region.
Not just different platforms, but Team Applause has delved into exploring different genres with these shows as well. Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, produced in association with Emmay Entertainment, is a story of a royal dysfunctional family featuring an ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Karma, Anya Singh and Raghubir Yadav. Whereas their political satire, Humble Politiciann Nograj, produced in association with Firstaction Studios and Danish Sait, takes ahead the 2018 film by the same name, with a new story running into 10 episodes.

Applause Entertainment has taken a head start when it comes to the type of content coming in 2022, and going by their performance, I am sure that it will only going to get better as the year goes by.
