The past two years due to the Covid pandemic across the world have been quite hard for the travel junkie in all of us, including me. But with it being the start of a new year, I have been planning of where to take my next vacation. I went to many places virtually, in India and internationally, through films and shows. And now, to help me with my decision making process, the popular new streaming platform, hayu has offered me a virtual tour across the world with The Real Housewives franchise, and here’s a look at all the international destinations that I got to travel through these shows.

The Real Housewives of Auckland

Until now, I have got to witness the beauty of New Zealand through Hindi films, and I must admit it feels like a part of heaven. Anne Batley-Burton, Michelle Blanchard, Gilda Kirkpatrick, Julia Sloane, Angela Stone and Louise Wallace make the scenic beauty of Auckland all the more intriguing with their high-class antiques and their camaraderie. Watch this series to witness what goes inside the lives of socialites in Auckland as they navigate the city’s social scene. Social pecking order and relationships are at stake here as old money meets new money and you wouldn’t want to miss all the drama being unraveled.

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg

Being an Indian, I feel like South Africa, and in particular Johannesburg, has been a part of my virtual life growing up, thus there is a familiarity with this place. But the way Christall Lydia Judith Kay, Brinnette Seopela, Lebo JoJo Mokoena, Lethabo Mathatho, Mpho Merriweather, Mpumi Mophatlane and Tarina Patel explore the city, it just shows me a new, unversed side of it and I love it. The show gives you a glimpse into the lives of these fiery, loaded and glamorous women while also giving you a peek into all the drama that goes into their posh life.

The Real Housewives of Melbourne

There is no better or more glamorous tour of the land down under than The Real Housewives of Melbourne and Jackie Gillies, Janet Roach, Gamble Breaux, Cherry Dipietrantonio, Kyla Kirkpatrick and Simone Elliott add the oomph in that. These socialites might differ in their relationship status but they are the life of the party at all their high-class social gatherings. Their seemingly perfect life consists of cocktail parties and weekend getaways to the most happening places in and around Melbourne, but since these six women are there, there has to be drama as well, and that is something that will keep you hooked to your screens.

The Real Housewives of Toronto

After taking a trip of the Southern Hemisphere, it’s time to explore the North as well, and in my opinion, The Real Housewives of Toronto is the best way to do that. Ann Kaplan Mulholland, Gregoriane Minot, Jana Webb, Joan Kelley Walker, Kara Alloway and Roxy Earle are the six housewives who are major players in the Toronto elite social scene. As they juggle their lives between family and career, it makes for an entertaining ride which also takes you on a scenic tour of the city of Toronto, making you see the city in a new light that has never been seen before. This one is a must-watch.

The Real Housewives of New York City

After travelling the world with The Real Housewives, it would be an injustice if I don’t come back to their natural home in the United States of America. Seeing the Big Apple through the eyes of these powerful women—Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams—will give you a different perspective to the New York City, and witnessing them juggle their schedules between social events, family, motherhood and careers also makes for entertainment television. The show was so successful internationally that the original fan-favourite, Bethenny Frenkel, got her own spin-off after that, titled Bethenny Ever After, and it is also as entertaining. Thus, this needs to be on your watchlist.

I have been missing getting out of my house and go to new and unknown places and explore them ever since the pandemic hit. But thanks to the collection of The Real Housewives franchise on hayu, my hunger for travel is being satiated virtually, and these five are just the tip of the iceberg as hayu has the whole collection of the franchise and you would want to check all of it out. So, just start streaming right away!
