Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at 8:12am. She was initially diagnosed with Pneumonia and Covid in January and she’s spent the last three weeks fighting against it, in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

Her family kept giving us updates about the health and requested people to pray for her recovery too. There were a few signs of improvement in the last few days, so she was even taken off ventilator, but her health deteriorated on Saturday and she breathed her last this morning. The entire nation is in grief as there’s never been and never will be another Lata Mangeshkar, and India has lost its very own Nightingale. She started singing in 1942 when she was all of 13 and has continued to melt hearts with her voice since then.

Lataji’s last rites will take place with full state honours at Shivaji Park. As per reports, a two-day national mourning will be observed in memory of the singer. The national flag will fly at half-mast for two days, as a mark of respect for the legend.

We offer our sincere condolences to the family and may her soul rest in peace.
