Lata Mangeshkar was and will be the epitome of singing and one can’t say enough about her. While the news of her demise has saddened the nation, various people from the industry, who’ve had the privilege to work with the lady or know her, took to social media to offer condolences and pay tribute to the singing legend.

To start with, Amitabh Bachchan shared this video and when a legend like him also, talks about Lata ji with such respect and humility it’s just heartwarming.

Check what he has to say:

Bachchan calls her the ‘voice of the millenium’ and it holds so true. Lata ji has been the female voice for so many of his duets and I’m in love with all these songs. My favourites remain tracks from Silsila, Jaane Kaise Kab Kahaan and the whole Abhimaan album.

Karisma Kapoor shared a gem of a picture on Instagram that has many legends in one frame, including Lata ji with her grandfather late Raj Kapoor and Nargis.

AR Rahman’s collaboration with Lata ji, has resulted in magical songs like Jiya Jale from Dil Se, Ek Tu Hi Bharosa from Pukar and Khamoshiyan Gungunane Lagi, but it’s Luka Chuppi from Rang De Basanti which continues to give me goosebumps every time I hear it. Rahman’s tribute to her is heartwarming, especially when he says that the singer was a part of the Indian consciousness. The composer also confessed how one incident with Lata ji changed his life.

Clearly, the ‘Nightingale’ put in so much effort in every song, and never took it for granted. yet, every song rendered by the lady sounds effortlessly melodious.

Another living legend, Dharmendra Deol shared an adorable picture with Lata ji expressing that he will miss her. He also shared that the whole world feels sad and he still can’t believe that Lata ji has left us.

Apart from these, actors from the younger lot, including Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal expressed a sheer heartbreak at this news. Abhishek Bachchan felt heartbroken too and said that we’re all blessed to have lived in the times of Lata Mangeshkar. Parineeti Chopra who is a trained singer shared how Lata ji was the dream, the goal, and aspiring singers were asked to do riyaaz on her songs. She also thanked the legend for inspiring singers, audiences and music itself.

Clearly, she’s inspired and touched many lives with her voice, and I believe will continue to do so, for generations to come!
