Madhuri Dixit is set to make her OTT debut with The Fame Game, the trailer of which looks spectacular. She plays a superstar – Anamika Anand in this Netflix series and I’m totally looking forward to seeing it when it begins streaming on February 25. Check out the trailer here.

I’m definitely hoping The Fame Game to do well. But it’s so commendable how actresses are headlining major shows on OTT which have hit the ball out of the park. Sushmita Sen’s Aarya was so well-received that it went into a season 2 and both the seasons were absolutely amazing. Sen’s powerpack performance in this Ram Madhvani show has made such an impact that it’s one of the best shows on OTT. From being a vulnerable, scared mother and a wife who’s grieving her husband’s death to becoming a strong woman who could set the mafias straight and give gangster vibes herself – Sen is a Rockstar and Aarya needs no hero. She is the hero!

Another show and star who’s left the audience impressed is Raveena Tandon with Aranyak. Raveena sunk her teeth into the character of police officer Kasturi Dogra so well, seeming effortless, and carried the show like a boss. Directed by Vinay Vyakul, the show did so well that the makers, Sidharth Roy Kapur and Rohan Sippy are already planning a season 2.

Actress Huma Qureshi was so brilliant in SonyLIV’s Maharani! From her dialogues to acing the colloquial accent, she was absolutely convincing. And while she continues to get appreciation for the series, the trailer of her new series, Mithya directed by Rohan Sippy is impressing me and how! Huma is totally owning it and the trailer definitely gives a glimpse of that. It’s so intriguing that I can’t wait to watch it when it premiers on February 18.

Shefali Shah impressed everyone in Delhi Crime with such a hard-hitting performance in a brilliantly-made series. And then, she raises the bar higher now with her recent performance in Human. Her portrayal of Gauri is one of her best roles so far and one wonders how different can the actress be. I can’t believe she’s the same person who I saw in Waqt: The Race Against Time and Dil Dhadakne Do, in Delhi Crime and now Human amidst so many of her other films! One of the best actresses we have in the country, undoubtedly!

These heroines truly are defining the changing times with their bold, hard-hitting roles, stories and characters that are out of the box. I’m loving this and I’m sure this is just the beginning, as we’ll see more actresses rule the theatre and OTT space in times to come.
