Nupur Sanon Starts Shooting For Her Debut Film ‘Noorani Chehra’ Opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui On Valentine’s Day

Nupur Sanon made a rather unconventional entry into showbiz as her first project was a music video, Filhaal, opposite Akshay Kumar. But the move proved to be in her favour as the song emerged a success crossing over a billion views on YouTube. I was quite impressed by her charm and the hold she had over camera, and since then I had been waiting for her to arrive on the big screen. There had been plenty of rumours around that in the last few years, but now it’s finally happening.

Taking to social media, the makers announced Nupur’s debut film Noorani Chehra, in which she is starring opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film is a cute and quirky romantic comedy about Noor and Hiba, with a strong social message about being comfortable in your own skin, and the duo kicked off the shoot for the same on the special day of Valentine’s day today.

Check out the film’s poster:

Noorani Chehra is presented by Panorama Studios, Wild River Pictures, in association with Pulp Fiction Entertainment. It is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Aarushi Malhotra, Nandini Sharma, Neeta Shah and Bharatkumar Shah and the film will be directed by Navaniat Singh.

Talking about his association with the subject, Nawazuddin points out that looks are a matter of perception, insisting that Europeans think he’s handsome, while in India, the parameters of ‘beauty’ are different, and had come in the way of his success and popularity. But he has overcome it all, unfazed by the differing opinions.

He adds,

“It’s a film that holds up a mirror to one of society’s biggest misconceptions and sends out a message that looks are a matter of perception.”

While Nupur is excited to be stepping into films with this project, she is doubly thrilled to be working with Nawazuddin in her very first film.

Summing up Noor and Hiba’s ‘different’ love story, Nupur quotes novelist Kate Angell, saying,

“Outer beauty attracts, but inner beauty captivates.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director, Panorama Studios, says,

“The idea was to make a movie that gives the audience something to laugh about as well as to think about. In times when subjects like skin colour, body positivity and baldness have emerged in mainstream story-telling, it was time for a film to tackle a subject about looks head-on and share a worthy message! We are happy to announce a fresh Bollywood pairing of Nawazuddin and Nupur for this unique romance.”

The happy director Navaniat asserts,

“I am happy the way everything has fallen in place. I loved the story and I am thrilled that Nawaz and Nupur have liked it as much. They are the most mismatched couple I could have found who will turn out to be the perfect match. And V-Day is the best day to get started.”

Having spoken to Nupur earlier, I know what a great girl she is, and I have been rooting for her since the starting. To see her take this first step towards the rest of her career is just making me quite happy and I don’t think she could have found a better co-actor to do it with. Really looking forward to Noorani Chehra now.
